Jeep Wrangler is one of the most popular and recognized models in the maker’s catalog. It should come as no surprise that its also the one that gets new models such as the special edition Call of Duty and Arctic Wranglers. Jeep has now announced that they are releasing some new models to join the Wrangler family.
Jeep is looking to extend its reach on the global market with the introduction of a new model specifically targeted to the Chinese market. The Jeep Wrangler Dragon Concept is being put out due to China’s growth as one of the largest automotive markets in recent years. The design work of the new Jeep are based on the fact that its the year of the Dragon according to the Chinese calendar. The exterior is painted with gold-bronze details with a dragon motif wrapped around the body. There’s also an added custom fuel filler door and a blacked out LED exterior lighting package.
The other new model that Jeep is putting out is a very limited edition. Earlier in the year, Jeep released the new all black Altitude Edition of the Compass, Grand Cherokee, and the Patriot. Now it’s the Wrangler’s turn. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Altitude edition will only have 4500 available. The model comes with the option for multiple paint schemes such as Deep Cherry Red, Bright Silver, or even Bright White. So far this year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has already won the 2012 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Award, Ward’s Top 10 Best Engines, and TFLCar.com’s Top Ten Most Fun to Drive Cars for 2012. The Rocky Mountain Press Association Award, though, is very special. The Jeep brand has always embraced the great outdoors and built cars that are tough enough to handle whatever drivers throw at them. Getting named SUV of the Year from a group that is so familiar with off-road and mountain road driving is pretty fantastic.

Over 2 years ago, Julian Smith of Julian Smith TV uploaded his music video “Techno Jeep” to YouTube. Recently, however, the video has seen a resurgence of sorts, and this inventive and infectious video has been making the rounds again.
“Techno Jeep” is a techno song performed using parts of a Jeep. Anything is game from a percussive door slam to the clicking locks and the revving engine. According to the description of the video, the musicians rehearsed for 2 weeks before shooting the video, and they shot for 7 hours until they got the perfect single-shot take. You can watch the video here:
A free ringtone version of the song is also available for free here.
Most of the viewers who responded to “Techno Jeep” have been surprised that Jeep would inspire a filmmaker and a group of musicians to make such a creative tribute to a car brand. It shouldn’t be so surprising, though. Jeep has a history of devoted fans and continues to reward their loyalty with fantastic new cars year after year. Hopefully more fans will be inspired by“Techno Jeep” and we will see more Jeep-themed music and videos in 2012.
