New 2017 Jeep Compass Video Highlights Interior Design

A new video from Jeep focuses on the 2017 Jeep Compass and shows how it is designed from the ground up to give drivers a premium driving experience.

The new video put up on Jeep’s YouTube page takes a look at how something like the 2017 Compass is designed.  It features an interview with the head of Advanced Color and Materials at the FCA Product Design Office.  She highlights the materials used in the design of the 2017 Compass and how the team put together an interior that has a premium look and feel to it and is also comfortable.

For how much talk in the creation of vehicles is focused on the exterior design or the engine and the raw horsepower it can achieve, it is nice to see how engineers at FCA work with materials to help the driver with their driving experience.  Watch the video here:

2017 Jeep Compass is the Activity Vehicle of Texas and the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is the Premium Utility Vehicle of Texas!

The Texas Auto Writers Association gave out their awards at their annual Texas Auto Roundup and one of the biggest winners by brand was Jeep.  The brand took home some of the highest honors of the evening including the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass which is already making a name for itself with auto critics.

“The Jeep brand vehicles also impressed our judges.  The 2017 Jeep Compass led the diverse Activity Vehicle category, offering excellent versatility, capability and Jeep’s go-anywhere styling…” said Nic Phillips, President of the Texas Auto Writers Association.

The 2017 Jeep Compass won the Activity Vehicle of Texas and the other major winner from Jeep was the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.  It was voted the Premium Utility Vehicle winner.

Phillips continued, “…the Grand Cherokee SRT continues to demonstrate the incredible package of handling, power and segment value, worthy of our Performance Utility Vehicle award.”

The awards for the Jeep brand added with the major wins that the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid won meant that FCA US had the most awards of any other car maker at the annual competition.

Is the Jeep Yuntu a Preview of a New American Jeep?

What’s next for the Jeep brand?  Jalopnik has taken a look at what is the current trend that is happening in the SUV world and how will that effect Jeep?

The trend is three rows of seating.  It’s a current desire of most SUV drivers and it is something that Jeep is needing into their upcoming line-up.  That’s where the Yuntu Concept comes in.

The Yuntu is a concept vehicle designed for China.  It’s a plug-in hybrid and that’s really about what is known.  The Yuntu is meant only for the Chinese market, a market that Jeep has been making strides in for a while now and is really looking to expand.  Based on the few photos that have come out of the concept Jeep.  The design of the Yuntu looks to be a cross between the Compass and the Renegade.

So what does this have to do with three rows and Jeep?  Jalopnik sees the Yuntu as a preview of what could be planned later on for American markets.  If Jeep is able to fit the three rows into their Chinese market, it may be a preview of things to come.  Considering that it seems to be what American buyers want, Jeep could be testing the waters in China.
