Jeep Grand Cherokee Getting a Hellcat Engine?

Jeep SRT Grand Cherokee Hellcat Engine - JeepDealerNy

The Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats have been popular with muscle car fans and while Dodge is scrambling to keep up with the demand of the public, the question is if any other vehicles will be getting the Hellcat engine. According to Motor Authority, a Jeep may be next in line.

The SRT brand is coming under Dodge and with it most of their performance tech will be placed into Dodge vehicles, such as the Hellcats. Since SRT serviced all of the vehicles under the Chrysler flag, what is going to happen to the non-Dodge vehicles? While the 300 SRT is looking to only be available overseas, SRT is still going to put its stamp on the Grand Cherokee.

While it won’t be a Dodge Jeep or anything like that, the Grand Cherokee SRT is looking to be named Trackhawk, something that was trademarked by FCA a year ago. By going off the five-year strategy FCA showed off, the Grand Cherokee is getting an update here soon and this new Trackhawk could be shown off as part of that update.

A new name and SRT labeling isn’t the only thing, as the Hellcat engine may also be included in the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, something that Car and Diver seemed to think was a given at this point. As they stated when they first broke the Hellcat engine in a Grand Cherokee, the problem is that the Jeep will need some work to be able to handle the engine’s power and will be undergoing some revisions.

Do you think the Grand Cherokee should get the Hellcat engine?

Could a Jeep Grand Cherokee Pickup Happen?

Could the Jeep Grand Cherokee be turned into a Pickup - JeepDealerNY

A few years ago, Jeep President Mike Manley mentioned that Jeep was looking into making a Jeep brand pickup.  Seeing as how it hasn’t surfaced until this point, it leaves one to wonder if this was an idea that was scrapped or if Jeep has been working on it all this time.  In a moment of speculation, Carscoops decided to pick up this point again and ask the question, why can’t Jeep make the Grand Cherokee a pickup?

The article features a clever rendering of what a Jeep pickup could look like.  Taking a look at it, it does leave one wondering why Jeep hasn’t attempted something in the years since Manley mentioned it.  As the writer states, a rendering is one thing, but it does show how perfect a Grand Cherokee is for this experiment.

“How hard would it be for Jeep, really, to modify the rear end of the current model?”

They go on to ponder if the reason nothing has been tried yet is because of the work Jeep is doing on the all-new Wrangler.  The pickup market is hot right now, but could Chrysler be afraid of cooling down the progress of the Ram trucks with a Jeep?  It may just be waiting for the right time, or it could’ve just been a wonderful dream on Manley’s part.

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee: The Best SUV?

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge - JeepDealerNYC - 01

Do you think the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best SUV?  John Mar Lumbayan of RealtyToday seems to think so.  His look at the Grand Cherokee is glowing with praise and he sure makes a valid argument for why if you didn’t think it was the best SUV, then maybe you should reconsider.

The Grand Cherokee is already highly regarded as one of the finer SUV’s on the market.  With the additions of the new technology and better gas mileage, it gets even better.

One of the more controversial points is Jeep’s move away from a traditional look for their new Jeeps.  The Grand Cherokee takes its visual cues from the new Jeep Cherokee.  While it is certainly different, that doesn’t make it any less gorgeous.  The new look is sleek and defined and provides better aerodynamics for the Grand Cherokee.

The Grand Cherokee also has a V8 HEMI engine.  With the addition of an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Grand Cherokee has more power along with better fuel economy.

Still not convinced?  He ends the piece with, “It can drive like a car and truck but excels both in paved surfaces.  There is nothing like it in the world today.  The Grand Cherokee shines from the rest of the mainstream and swank brands.”

Have you changed your mind on if the 2015 Grand Cherokee is the best SUV?
