New Jeep Pickup Spotted?

The Jeep pickup has been something that has been rumored for some time and little hints here and there that something was in the works.  As of yet, besides just some concept Jeep vehicles, nothing has been produced to show what the Jeep pickup that is supposed to be coming will look like.  That is until AutoToday seemingly spotted a Jeep Wrangler pickup concept in the wild.

The spy pictures look pretty amazing.  I don’t believe that many didn’t think the Wrangler pickup would look like a Jeep melded with a truck back.  That being said, actually seeing one on the road is really cool to see.  There is definitely a demand for this fusion of truck and Jeep and the Wrangler pickup may just be the thing to cater to that market.

As for the name, there is no news on that front.  The rumor is that Jeep will be reviving a nostalgic name to attach to the Wrangler pickup.  Here is hoping that we’ll be seeing and hearing more news soon about the Jeep Wrangler Pickup.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Spotted in Spy Photos

The new 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been spotted by spy photographers.  The spy photos seem to indicate some interesting things about what to expect from the upcoming 2018 Wrangler.

The 2018 Wrangler that the photographers captured was a four-door.  It looked like it was also testing out the rumored three-piece hardtop.  This new roof option would allow for the removal of the front two or the entire roof.  Basically a segmented roof removal system for the 2018 Wrangler.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is expected to bring a new age of tech and innovation to the nostalgic Jeep Wrangler.  So far the photos seem to indicate that the traditional boxy look that the Wrangler has had will not be going away.  For many, this will be seen as a positive as the Wrangler is the last bastion for the traditional Jeep design.

The History of Jeep Production in Toledo

The Jeep is celebrating its 75th Anniversary and what better time to look back at how the Jeep came to be and how it has survived on the market as long as it has.

The Toledo Blade has a look at the history of the Jeep.  It seems appropriate considering that the current home of the Jeep is in Toldeo.  The Jeep was originally a military vehicle.  Anyone who has seen pictures or biographical movies set during the Second World War has seen what the military Jeep looks like.  It is an iconic design.  That design came from the Ford Motor Co., the American Bantam Car Co, and Toledo-based Willys-Overland.

The city of Toledo was where the engine was made for the original Jeep.  Toledo was also where the Jeep as we know it was truly born.  When the war was over, Jeep production continued in the city with the Jeep station wagon and years later the evolution into the Jeeps of today.

The Jeep also provided the Toledo area with growth as the factory and Jeep production helped to sustain a vibrant middle-class.  It’s struggled through the years, like most cities that grew from manufacturing in the US.  The difference is that Chrysler has keep Toledo plants open and making Jeeps.  Even with the recent fear that the Jeep may be leaving Toledo, the company remains committed to having the Jeep here in the states.

The future of Jeep will continue in Toledo.  Fiat-Chrysler has invested a sizable amount of money into the plant at Toledo to develop and bring the next generation of Wrangler.
