New Jeep Prototype Spotted?

Allpar seems to be busy of late with their numerous spies that scour the roads of America looking for anything secret. They had already showed off what might be the first prototype for a new Ram Heavy-Duty Truck and that really wasn’t enough for them. They have put out details and pictures of what just may be the new Jeep vehicle.

Their reasoning behind claiming this could be the new Jeep model is that the Compass is due for a replacement. Both it and the Jeep Patriot are going to have a shortened 2013 and 2014 year. That could mean this is a whole new Jeep Compass but also could just be a whole new model meant to replace the Compass for 2014 or 2015.

According to the article, Allpar says that Chrysler is reportedly still wanting to have the Compass name. They reference insider comments that the interior would be similar to the current Patriot in shape and size, but mixed in with the soft lines of the old Jeep Renegade and Willys2 concepts. Whatever it is really, there’s not a lot of doubt that it will follow the Dodge Dart in borrowing many ideas from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Is this a sneak peek behind the curtain to what Jeep has plans for the future? Nothing is known for certain at the moment but as soon as it does, we’ll make sure to let you know.

Custom Jeep Cherokee Ready for Anything

Jeeps have a history of being popular for drivers looking to escape the confines of the roads and seek adventure off the beaten path. It just so happens that a company decided to trick out a Jeep for the purpose of making it unstoppable on any terrain.

The Examiner has an article detailing what Chris Faustmann, the manager of the research and development of Performance Automotive Group, did to 1996 Jeep Cherokee. The intents of his upgrades and tweaks are to be a test bed for the company’s new product development. It does have a more selfish purpose, however, in that Faustmann has a love for rock crawling and is definitely using this new Jeep to fulfill that desire.

Just what has he done to give this Jeep the edge, well first off it’s equipped with the company’s own OR-Fab line of products. There’s the rear “comp cut” bumper which is designed to easily slip rocks and still protect the rear hatch and quarters. The rear quarter panels the company put on protect the Jeep’s side rockers. The engine is a ATK Performance 4.0 liter with an S&S Custom exhaust system. The front suspension is a prototype that was designed for the company’s other brand, the Trailer Master Suspension.

These Jeep enthusiast have sure taken their love for the vehicle to a new level. It’s insane to think about someone being able to take a car and give it such a facelift that makes it into an all-terrain and unstoppable tank of a vehicle.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Sales High In June

The sales numbers for the month of June have come out and to many people’s surprise, they are still going strong for the industry. One of the best success stories to come out of the sales figures, however, is from Jeep.

According to the Associate Press the Jeep Grand Cherokee saw a great sales boost in the month. SUV’s have been under some scrutiny of late due to the high cost of gas in recent months. It’s made many in the industry wonder if dark days were ahead for the vehicles with new hybrids starting to take center stage. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore with the Grand Cherokee having its best June sales since 2005. That’s a 38 percent increase this year.

The Grand Cherokee has always been a heavy fan favorite for the Jeep brand. Just last week, we wrote about the SUV getting a brand new variant in the form of the Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited. There’s a reason why it’s the most awarded SUV ever and is a recommended buy of Consumer Reports.
