Could a Jeep Grand Cherokee Pickup Happen?

Could the Jeep Grand Cherokee be turned into a Pickup - JeepDealerNY

A few years ago, Jeep President Mike Manley mentioned that Jeep was looking into making a Jeep brand pickup.  Seeing as how it hasn’t surfaced until this point, it leaves one to wonder if this was an idea that was scrapped or if Jeep has been working on it all this time.  In a moment of speculation, Carscoops decided to pick up this point again and ask the question, why can’t Jeep make the Grand Cherokee a pickup?

The article features a clever rendering of what a Jeep pickup could look like.  Taking a look at it, it does leave one wondering why Jeep hasn’t attempted something in the years since Manley mentioned it.  As the writer states, a rendering is one thing, but it does show how perfect a Grand Cherokee is for this experiment.

“How hard would it be for Jeep, really, to modify the rear end of the current model?”

They go on to ponder if the reason nothing has been tried yet is because of the work Jeep is doing on the all-new Wrangler.  The pickup market is hot right now, but could Chrysler be afraid of cooling down the progress of the Ram trucks with a Jeep?  It may just be waiting for the right time, or it could’ve just been a wonderful dream on Manley’s part.

2015 Jeep Renegade: Is the Dislike Still Strong?

2015 Jeep Renegade

Where are the haters, asks Motoring Crunch.  It’s a good point to bring up.  When the Cherokee was first announced with its new look and design, the old vanguard of Jeep lovers balked at it.  They cried foul and saw the death of Jeep in something new and different.  That didn’t stop the Cherokee from being one of Jeep’s newest juggernauts and all-around thoroughly enjoyed Jeep.  But what about the Renegade?

It’s a small article, clearly having a chip on the shoulder of however wrote it, but it does bring a point with it.  The Renegade was seen as not going to have much impact when it hit, that it was unneeded.  So far the early word from critics who have driven it to the people buying is that it is an excellent new addition to the Jeep library.

Where did those critics go?  Did they get wowed over from the Renegade or simply fade away?  One thing is for certain, the Renegade is a powerful new vehicle and is going to be, as MCrunch puts it, “a real force in the highly competitive compact SUV market.”

Do you agree or disagree with on this about the Renegade?  Do you think it is a Jeep misfire or going to be a hit?  Let us know in the comments.

Jeep Beach Sets New Jeep Record

Jeep Beach Sets New Jeep Record

Not content to let Ram have all the glory, Jeep also wanted to break a record.  A little while ago, Ram put out the word for Ram truck drivers to sign up and amass on the Academy of Country Music Awards to break the Guinness World Record for ‘Largest Parade of Pickup Trucks.’  With 451 total trucks, it was a mission success.

Cut to the 12th annual Jeep Beach event.  The event is a major Jeep get-together for fun events and charity down in Florida.  To mark this year, they wanted to take a crack at breaking a record.  Said record was 1,106 Jeeps at the 2011 Bantam Jeep Festival.  The Jeep Beach managed to do it, smashing that previous record with their own 1,846 Jeeps!

What was the most popular of the Jeeps?  According to one of the volunteers, it was the Wrangler.  “Wranglers dominated but we definitely had representation from nearly every Jeep ever made.”

Will the Bantam Jeep Festival take this hit to their record lying down?  It’s all fun and games and I hope to see them fire back.  If it keeps happening, one day we’ll have to stretch Jeeps across the whole of the US.  It could happen.
