New Jeep Planned to Replace Patriot and Compass

Jeep Planning New Replacement for Patriot and Compass

Jeep has rolled the hits out of their factories and onto show floors.  The Cherokee has been a major success for the company and the Renegade is poised to make a major impact with the newer generation of Jeep buyers.  What is next?

Automobile Mag spoke with Jeep President and CEO Mike Manley to ask that very question.  The response is that something new may already be in the works for the next major Jeep.

“It’s literally halfway between the two,” Manley said referring to the Cherokee and Renegade.  “It’s well-positioned from a size point of view between the two vehicles.”

Jeep needs new vehicles to fill in slots that will soon be empty when they follow the five-year plan.  According to it, the Patriot and Compass will be put away for a while and something else will be taking their places.

As far as the styling goes, Manley was coy on what the look would be.  Would it follow the newer stylized look present in the Cherokee and Renegade or would it be a call back to the boxy look of traditional Jeeps?  Who knows, Manley is certainly not dropping any hints.  For those longing for a classical look, I think you may be waiting, but it could be the case that the half-way point between the Cherokee and Renegade is an older look.

Jeep Loses Compass and Patriot

Jeep is getting some major changes moving forward. Chrysler is putting forward a five-year plan that is meant to trim the fat and put their best foot forward to make their brand one of the top ones across the globe. Sadly, that means some tough choices will be made. Jeep will be losing some members of the family as a part of the plan.

The Jeep Compass and Patriot will be discontinued come 2016. The reasoning behind this move is that both Jeeps are compact SUVs and instead of putting the resources into two similar vehicles to put all that into a single compact SUV.

The plan did not reveal what the name of this replacement Jeep is going to be. The plant and production of where both Jeeps are being produced will have their resources shifted to making an all-new Chrysler 100. In the meantime, there is speculation of what the new Jeep could be without any real concrete evidence pointing to any name or build. One thing that is know will be the new Jeep will be using the CUSW (Compact US Wide) platform the company has already used for the 2013 Dodge Dart.
