Jeep Renegade and Wrangler Top Kelley Blue Book’s Most Awarded Vehicles of 2015!

Kelley Blue Book has put together their list of the most awarded vehicles of 2015 and it is most definitely a good thing for Jeep. Two from the Jeep line-up made the list. One of the oldest and most popular Jeeps, and one that is brand-new.

The obvious one is the Jeep Renegade. The little guy of the family is really getting a running start out of the gate. It has been catching on and is really starting to prove itself as the excellent starter SUV it was intended to be. It might be small in size, but it still nabbed plenty of awards from KBB including ’10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000’, ’10 Tech-Saviest Cars Starting Under $20,000’, and ’10 Most Fun SUVs.”

The other Jeep is the Wrangler, which is not really a surprise when looking at the critical history of the Wrangler. There is a reason it has stuck around in the public eye for so long and continues to be one of the best-selling vehicles under the Chrysler banner. Among its numerous awards from KBB, the 2015 Wrangler was on their ’10 Most Fun SUVs’, ’10 Coolest Cars Under $25,000’, and ’10 Best SUVs Under 25,000.’

Jeep has been extremely popular the last few months in the US. Seeing how just two of the Jeep vehicles have made so many popular lists according to Kelley Blue Book, it is easy to see why everyone wants a Jeep.

New Jeep Pickup Maybe a Fiat-Chrysler Problem Solver

The idea of a new Jeep pickup has picked up a lot of steam. Jeep appears to be moving on with finally producing one and getting into the hands and driveways of people who’ve been clamoring for one for years. While no official statement has been made yet, nor has a name or look been given, it is expected that soon Jeep will give the people what they want. Building this new Jeep pickup does more than just satiate the fans, it may also solve two major issues for Fiat-Chrysler.

In an op-ed for Nasdaq, the new Jeep pickup could potentially help out FCA in two areas. The first is in construction. The news of the Jeep pickup first appeared when news broke that the factory in Toledo, Ohio that is responsible for Wranglers will also be making this new pickup. The problem is that the Wrangler has been extremely popular of late and in order to keep up with demand, the factory would need to be expanded. Due to the cost, Marchionne considered moving the Wrangler production to another factory, but that idea turned out to be extremely unpopular as politicians and fans voiced their concerns. By having this factory take over for the pickup, it resolves this complicated situation.

“The solution is elegant, not least because it should keep the Toledo factory very busy… Dealers get more Wranglers to sell, the Cherokee gets moved to a place where more can be built – and the Toledo factory gets another profitable product to keep it busy.”

The second problem the pickup is a solution to is the demand from a new market. As previously stated, while fan demand has always been there, this increase of demand and sales for SUVs and pickups has many automakers scrambling to get new vehicles out for buyers. The Jeep pickup would be a major benefit to the company and give them a leg in the midsize SUV market that is really starting to pick up steam.

New Popemobile is a Jeep!

The Jeep sure seems to be popular of late. So popular that even the Pope is going to be driven around in one. It certainly makes the idea of a Pope-mobile more enticing.

It is the first time that Pope Francis has come to America and what better way to travel than in one of America’s most popular vehicles. The Jeep that he will be using as his new Popemobile is a Wrangler. It seems that the new Pope is a fan of the Wrangler as he also used a four-door during his trip to Ecuador a few months ago.

It is an odd thing to see an American vehicle get so much press for simply being used to carry the Pope as he visits various cities, but I think it speaks volumes that during his time here that he is using vehicles from that country. It definitely at least makes his ride nicer and more stylish, a far cry from the old bubble Popemobile. Maybe he plans to take it off-road in his downtime.

I wonder if he’d be interested in a Charger or Challenger Hellcat for his next Popemobile.
