Jeep Beach Sets New Jeep Record

Jeep Beach Sets New Jeep Record

Not content to let Ram have all the glory, Jeep also wanted to break a record.  A little while ago, Ram put out the word for Ram truck drivers to sign up and amass on the Academy of Country Music Awards to break the Guinness World Record for ‘Largest Parade of Pickup Trucks.’  With 451 total trucks, it was a mission success.

Cut to the 12th annual Jeep Beach event.  The event is a major Jeep get-together for fun events and charity down in Florida.  To mark this year, they wanted to take a crack at breaking a record.  Said record was 1,106 Jeeps at the 2011 Bantam Jeep Festival.  The Jeep Beach managed to do it, smashing that previous record with their own 1,846 Jeeps!

What was the most popular of the Jeeps?  According to one of the volunteers, it was the Wrangler.  “Wranglers dominated but we definitely had representation from nearly every Jeep ever made.”

Will the Bantam Jeep Festival take this hit to their record lying down?  It’s all fun and games and I hope to see them fire back.  If it keeps happening, one day we’ll have to stretch Jeeps across the whole of the US.  It could happen.

New Jeep Planned to Replace Patriot and Compass

Jeep Planning New Replacement for Patriot and Compass

Jeep has rolled the hits out of their factories and onto show floors.  The Cherokee has been a major success for the company and the Renegade is poised to make a major impact with the newer generation of Jeep buyers.  What is next?

Automobile Mag spoke with Jeep President and CEO Mike Manley to ask that very question.  The response is that something new may already be in the works for the next major Jeep.

“It’s literally halfway between the two,” Manley said referring to the Cherokee and Renegade.  “It’s well-positioned from a size point of view between the two vehicles.”

Jeep needs new vehicles to fill in slots that will soon be empty when they follow the five-year plan.  According to it, the Patriot and Compass will be put away for a while and something else will be taking their places.

As far as the styling goes, Manley was coy on what the look would be.  Would it follow the newer stylized look present in the Cherokee and Renegade or would it be a call back to the boxy look of traditional Jeeps?  Who knows, Manley is certainly not dropping any hints.  For those longing for a classical look, I think you may be waiting, but it could be the case that the half-way point between the Cherokee and Renegade is an older look.
