2015 Jeep Renegade Brings Jeep into Small SUV Market

LEAD-Jeep-Renegade

The all-new Jeep Renegade is here to fill a void that Jeep has been absent from, the small sport-utility vehicle segment. One key aspect that Jeep makes sure to strive for whenever undertaking any new vehicle, be it a redesign of an older design or a revamp of a classic, Jeep continues to ensure that the Jeep badge means quality. Big or small, Jeeps are made to endure and offer the best-in-class off-road driving. The Renegade will be no exception.

The new Jeep Renegade will be borrowing some tech from its older brother in order to stay true to the Jeep name. The Jeep Cherokee has new 4×4 tech that will be used in the Renegade. The two systems are advanced and intelligent 4×4. Each is engineered to deliver the best-in-class for off-road capability.

Another feature that the Renegade features to give it an edge in the segment is a segment first in its disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit. This helps the Renegade achieve better fuel economy and the 4×4 system engages when it is needed.

All the power for the 2015 Jeep Renegade comes from the 1.4-liter Multiair four-cylinder turbo engine. The limited models come with a more powerful 2.4-liter Multiair four-cylinder engine.

None of that power and capability takes away from the comfort of riding in the Renegade. High-quality and state-of-the-art technology was used in making sure that the driver and riders were in heaven no matter of the condition of the road taken. The designers have labeled the interior “Tek-Tonic” for its “intersections of soft and tactile forms with rugged and functional details.”

The new Jeep Renegade is helping Jeep enter a market they’ve been missing from. Hopefully, like the new Jeep Cherokee, fans of Jeep will embrace this new entry from a company that ensures quality with each release.

Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler Break Monthly Records in May

2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Jeep had a good May.  Sales on two Jeeps in particular helped make the month one of the best the company has ever had.

The month of May belonged to the Jeep Wrangler and the Cherokee.  Chrysler Group is reporting that they sold 19,235 Wranglers and 15,992 Cherokees last month.  For the Wrangler, that sales number shatters a previous record from about a year ago.  For the newly debuted Cherokee, May sales is the highest the vehicle has sold since it first went on market.

The Wrangler and the Cherokee combined made up more than half of the Jeep sales in the US for May.  It also marked the 50th straight month for Chrysler as a whole to have positive year-over-year sales growth.

The sales were attributed to an improving economy and more affordable and reliable credit for consumers.  Another major factor in the month of May is Memorial Day.  Many buyers can find themselves great deals in dealerships during the holiday.

Jeep Restores WW2 Jeep in Honor of Memorial Day

Ford_gp_jeep_1942_holabird_sm

There are few vehicles with as rich of a military history as the Jeep. Its birth was to aid with the war effort during World War 2 and the image of soldiers driving one, filled with officers, or supplies, is the iconic imagery of the war. If there is one vehicle to celebrate Memorial Day and to celebrate those that service, Jeep is the one that makes the most sense. For that reason, workers at the Toledo plant have refurbished an old 1942 Jeep.

Chrysler Toledo Assembly Complex managed to restore a Willys Military Jeep from 1942. It was worked on by the employes and then unveiled during a special ceremony where the Jeep rested under a Jeep signed dedicated to the troops on Expressway Drive in north Toledo.

The Jeep was designed to be the new “work-horse” of the military in a time when technology was replacing many aspects of the military. Jeep has always had a good relationship with the military and is making sure to honor the troops this memorial day.
