Jeep had a good May. Sales on two Jeeps in particular helped make the month one of the best the company has ever had.
The month of May belonged to the Jeep Wrangler and the Cherokee. Chrysler Group is reporting that they sold 19,235 Wranglers and 15,992 Cherokees last month. For the Wrangler, that sales number shatters a previous record from about a year ago. For the newly debuted Cherokee, May sales is the highest the vehicle has sold since it first went on market.
The Wrangler and the Cherokee combined made up more than half of the Jeep sales in the US for May. It also marked the 50th straight month for Chrysler as a whole to have positive year-over-year sales growth.
The sales were attributed to an improving economy and more affordable and reliable credit for consumers. Another major factor in the month of May is Memorial Day. Many buyers can find themselves great deals in dealerships during the holiday.
