Jeep

Good news for Jeep fans who have the tendency to get the chorus of ‘Pompeii’ stuck in their head.  Jeep is bringing the band Bastille to celebrate 75 years of Jeep!

“We are beyond excited to have Bastille and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness playing Jeep on the Rocks this year.  This concert has always been a thrilling evening for the Jeep brand and we look forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of both Red Rocks and the Jeep brand this October,” said Steve Yandura, Director of the Denver Business Center at FCA US.”

Jeep on the Rocks will be happening October 7th 2016 and looks to be an exciting one.  Just imagine the evening, heading out in your Jeep and parking it there in the open air and listening to a band who has produced some amazing ear-worm songs that tend to stick with you.  As for celebrating the 75th anniversary, it’s a great way to get the Jeep drivers out and to enjoy the environment a Jeep is meant to enjoy.

Jeep Renegade, Patriot Have Record Setting May

Jeep has been consistently the most popular brand in the Fiat-Chrysler family.  For months now, it has been the one really propping up the FCA in America.  FCA has certainly noticed.  They’ve reallocated resources into the Jeep brand in order to meet this surge of demand and are refocusing the future of the company into this.  If May’s sales were any indication, it is clear that the Jeep is still the choice of the future for FCA.

Jeep had a record setting May which helped FCA keep their sales record streak going.  This makes 74 months in a row of year-over-year sales gains.  Jeep’s record was a first, however.  Jeep sales topped 90,000 for the first time ever in all of its 75 years of production.  Not a bad record to set in its 75th anniversary.

The Jeeps that helped obtain this record is the Compass, Renegade, and the Patriot.  Each one managed to set its own record sales number for May.  The Renegade and the Patriot both had their best monthly sales ever.  This is the 32nd consecutive month that Jeep has posted a month of year-over-year sales gains.

Next-Gen Jeep Wrangler’s Engine Maybe a Four Cylinder

A new rumor on the engine in the next-generation Jeep Wrangler shows FCA trying to find the balance between what the drivers want and what is possible with new fuel efficiency standards.

Automotive News released today a rumor about the new engine that will be possibly be an option for the upcoming new Jeep Wrangler.  The engine is a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine code-named Hurricane.  Automotive News was told by a source what to expect from this new engine.  It will feature a “direct-injected inline-four with variable valve timing and a twin-scroll turbocharger.”  The Hurricane engine will also be an aluminum block and is expected to be 300 horsepower.

More information backing this up is an investment FCA made in April.  They put 75 million into their Trenton Engine Complex to start production on a new four-cylinder engine, like the one described above.  The plant had been making the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 previously.

Sergio Marchionne, FCA’s CEO, had also made previously statements that make the Hurricane engine seem like the truth.  He had said that the Wrangler would be needing an optional four-cylinder for its new eight-speed auto transmission.
