4 New Jeep Concepts Introduced at Beijing Motor Show

China has turned into a major market for Jeep. It is for this reason that Jeep has introduced four new concepts at the 2014 Beijing International Motor Show. The Jeeps are an infusion of modern day style with inspiration of millennia of Chinese culture. Their names are the Jeep Sageland, Urbane, Sundancer and Zi You Xia.

Jeep Zi You Xia Design Concept:

The Zi You Xia is based on the recently debuted Jeep Renegade. Zi You Xia translates to “rebel.” The color of the concept Jeep is inspired by the colors of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. The scheme is Warm Chocolate Gray with Dark Anodized Bronze for contrast on various exterior parts of the Jeep such as the grille and the bezels.

The Zi You Xia also comes with the world’s first nine-speed automatic transmission and has been designed to appeal to a global market. For that reason, the Jeep comes with up to 16 powertrain combinations.

Jeep Cherokee Sageland & Urbane Design Concepts:

Both are based on the all-new and popular Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee has already been released in the Chinese market and will now be offering its customers the chance for something extra and new.

The Sageland is inspired by the Shangri-La Region and its historical landmarks and natural scenerise. A Ivory tri-coat Pearl with bronze grille collars coat the exterior while netural grey leather seats and red and blue accent stitches fill the insides. The stitching on the seats is inspired by traditional Chinese knot design and the pattern on the doors draws its inspiration from Chinese ornamental door knobx.

In contrast, the Urbane is made with an appeal to nightlife. The exterior color is in Maximum Steel along with Hyper Black accents. The interior is based on Chinese calligraphy with bold brush stroke patterns set against dark red Nappa leather seats. Even the floor mats are stylized with a unique decorative pattern based on traditional Chinese windows.

Jeep Wrangler Sundancer Design Concept:

The really awesome name comes from the combination of the Chocolate Brown metallic color with gold accents. Even the windows get extra flair in this concept with bronze tinted glass. To really impress onlookers, the Sundancer comes equipped with 20-inch pale gold billet aluminum wheels with polished gold inserts.

The Sundancer is modeled on the Wrangler Rubicon. It comes with the choice of either the 3.6L V-6 Pentastar petrol engine or 3.0L V-6 Pentastar petrol engine.

What to Expect From Jeep in 2014

Could 2014 be the year of Jeep?

MLive.com had the chance to interview Mike Manley, the CEO and President of Jeep, about his thoughts on where the Jeep brand is heading for the duration of 2014.  His view was very optimistic.  In all, the website came away with seven highlights as to what to expect from Jeep all year long.

First, the Cherokee.  It was long delayed and much criticized, but as we have dutifully noted, the reception ended up being quite positive.  Consumers have come to enjoy the new 2014 Cherokee enough that the sales helped propel Jeep into a positive year.  Expect the sales to continue as people latch onto the new Jeep favorite.

Second, more and more sales of Jeep vehicles.  Jeep believes that with the Cherokee leading the charge they will be able to topple 1 million vehicles in 2014.  It’s a lofty and historic goal for the company, one that Sergio Marchionne, CEO and Chairman of Chrysler, things is achievable.

“Whether we hit it or don’t hit it, the fact of the matter is it’s a great number for us to shoot for,” Manley said in the interview.

If the Cherokee is able to get to the 300,000 mark, then it will get the Jeep brand to the goal line.  However, Manley wants to note that all of that success doesn’t simply hinge on the Cherokee as growth should be expected on all Jeep vehicles this year.

Third, Jeep is going global.  This news has been talked about all of last year, but Jeep’s popularity is growing outside of the states.  2014 will see Jeep entering into many more foreign markets, especially in China where Jeeps are in high demand at the moment.  Manley is quick to reassure American fans that this new focus on the foreign market will not take away from the quality of Jeep here at home in the states.

Which segues into the next point, embracing heritage.  This is not a concept that Jeep has struggled with.  It was one of the major early criticisms of the Cherokee, for being one of the first Jeeps in ages that has changed what has become tradition.  Manley and Marchionne are still looking to assure fans that in the coming year, change is coming, but change doesn’t mean breaking from what made the Jeep what it is today.

One of those changes, a smaller Jeep.  While there is no word on what exactly is meant by that, Jeep is developing an all-new vehicle that will first launch in Europe this year and be brought state-side in 2015.  Manley commented that a name has been chosen, but will not let anyone know until the debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2014.

Disable Veteran Will Be Getting Special Jeep Cherokee

Untitled

Brett Miller, a solider serving in Iraq, was severely injured by an IED. Due to the injury, he suffers from memory loss and weakness in his left limbs. Thanks to the generosity of Freedom Wheelers, his Jeep Cherokee will be getting a massive upgrade to help him.

Miller is already involved with groups spreading awareness about health issues concerning veterans. He’s been a featured speaker with the Wounded Warrior Project and has been across the states helping other returning disabled veterans find the help they need. However, in the past few months, his Jeep has been having issues and so another charity group stepped in to give him a helping hand.

Freedom Wheelers was started by J.D. Lineberger, a disabled marine himself. Being a Jeep fanatic helped him customize his vehicle to accommodate a wheelchair for his injuries. Since then, he’s been doing this for other wounded soldiers. Miller’s Jeep will be the 22nd he’s put together.
