Jeep Readies for the Paris Motor Show

Starting September 29th is one of the biggest car shows of the year. The city of love, Paris, will be hosting the aptly named Paris Motor Show. This years event will play host to some of the year’s biggest world premieres in the auto world. Auto makers the world over will be coming to the city of lights to woo spectators with their new and exciting cars. Jeep is looking to take advantage of that display and is putting their best foot forward by having their best products out in front.

Carscoop says that the Jeep vehicles on display will be the European premieres of three special edition versions. All three of these Jeeps have already been shown off here in the states already. One of the biggest and brightest of the bunch is the incredible Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Limited Edition. It is available in a bright white finish along with chromed 20-inch alloy wheels and a black-out exterior.

Also being shown off at Paris will be the Jeep Wrangler Moab. Powered by either a 2.8-liter turbo diesel or a 3.6-liter V6 petrol powertrain, The Wrangler Moab is custom made to tackle any environment intrepid drivers want to attempt.

The last of the trio Jeeps is the Compass Overland. It has 18-inch polished alloy wheels and chromed inserts on the front grille on the outside. Inside is the elegance and style of a leather interior with accent stitching and also comes equipped with a 6.5-inch touchscreen and a 40-gigabyte hard disk.

The Paris Motor Show will be a sight to see and Jeep wants to be one of the sights to remember. Be sure to contact Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge to schedule yourself a test drive in a Jeep vehicle. Jeep Plant Readies for Liberty Replacement

The Jeep Liberty is getting itself a replacement. In order to get ready for the production of it, however, Chrysler is making sure that the plant responsible for this new Jeep vehicle is readying. That means the plant will be going idle this month.

Starting August 16th, the Toledo North factory will be halting their production to start shipping new models in the 2013 second quarter, according to the Detroit News. Chrysler is looking to invest around $1.7 billion to give the Jeep Liberty an upgrade and give the Toledo plant the assembly complex needed to deal with the added capacity.

The full investment will provide an expansion to the plant’s body shop with $500 million. This lets the plant also install a new metrology center that verifies the measurements of the vehicles and can improve the fit and finish of components. The plant will also need to start adding more workers. There are already 2,800 employees at the plant that assemble the Jeep Wrangler and that number is expected to increase with 1,100 new workers.

Zach Leroux, the plant manager, remarked on the challenge ahead for the plant and the new Jeep Liberty’s replacement, “We have new product and a whole new shift, so our task is tall. We have a tall challenge ahead of us.”

With the Dodge Dart on the way out in mass, it’s time for Chrysler and the rest of the brands to start really putting some hype into the next products. Other updates planned are for the Grand Cherokee and a new Ram heavy-duty truck in 2013.

New Jeep Prototype Spotted?

Allpar seems to be busy of late with their numerous spies that scour the roads of America looking for anything secret. They had already showed off what might be the first prototype for a new Ram Heavy-Duty Truck and that really wasn’t enough for them. They have put out details and pictures of what just may be the new Jeep vehicle.

Their reasoning behind claiming this could be the new Jeep model is that the Compass is due for a replacement. Both it and the Jeep Patriot are going to have a shortened 2013 and 2014 year. That could mean this is a whole new Jeep Compass but also could just be a whole new model meant to replace the Compass for 2014 or 2015.

According to the article, Allpar says that Chrysler is reportedly still wanting to have the Compass name. They reference insider comments that the interior would be similar to the current Patriot in shape and size, but mixed in with the soft lines of the old Jeep Renegade and Willys2 concepts. Whatever it is really, there’s not a lot of doubt that it will follow the Dodge Dart in borrowing many ideas from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Is this a sneak peek behind the curtain to what Jeep has plans for the future? Nothing is known for certain at the moment but as soon as it does, we’ll make sure to let you know.
