New Jeep Renegades Hides Plenty of Easter Eggs

Jeep Renegade Easter Eggs - JeepDealerNY

The 2015 Jeep Renegade is the new Jeep for a new generation.  It has a great lore for its creation with the design team pulling their youngest designers in and tasking them with coming up with the Jeep they would want.  The Renegade clearly has a stylish look and is aimed at bringing a younger crowd into the Jeep market.  Turns out, however, that the designers also managed to sneak in some great easter eggs for the older Jeep fans.

The Herald-News has a break-down of all the hidden design nods they were able to locate.  Many of the easter eggs are meant to point back to the creation of the Jeep with homages to the original Willys Jeep.  One such is the “X” stamped onto the Renegade’s taillights to mimic the look of the jerry cans the old Willys Jeeps would carry.

Another call back to that older Jeep is in the form of a silhouette printed on the wheels and grille of the Renegade.  More of these stamps are also on the inside of the tailgate and in the taillights.  Another one that the article doesn’t note is that the Moab off-road is on the center tray.

That’s all that have been made known to the public for the time being, but there is no doubt to more being included in the Renegade’s design.  We can’t wait to see what other things they included.

Jeep Renegade Gets Possible Release Date

The Jeep Renegade is Jeep’s attempt to market to a younger demographic.  It is being seen as the entry level for many new drivers to the Jeep world.  It seems to be picking up steam as Fiat Chrysler revealed that 200 orders have already been placed for the new Renegade amongst the 20,000 clients that paid a visit to dealers to look at the new Jeep.  Chrysler also said that drivers will get a chance to start test driving them as early as this weekend.

As far as when to expect the Renegade in the US market for all to get, no official date yet.  Jeep is saying that the Renegade will be fully available to in the first quarter of 2015.  According to the Air Herald, it should be of February of 2015.

No pricing was confirmed by the brand either.  The estimated price is said to be under $20,000 when it comes out.  It makes sense, the Renegade is aimed at a younger audience and with that comes tighter budgets.

2015 Jeep Renegade

The new Jeep Renegade is ready to bring a new look and name to the Jeep brand.  Taking cues from new parent company Fiat’s European Panda, the Renegade is going to offer a new way to experience off-road in a Jeep.  A new look, one that is inspired by such European designs, may seem frightening to most American drivers.  There was already enough fear over a simple new look for the now highly regard Jeep Cherokee.  The Renegade is still Jeep at its core and no matter how boxy or odd it may appear at first sight, it is still offering the best off-road experience to Jeep fans new and old.

The design of the new Jeep Renegade, at first glance, is off-putting for long time fans of Jeep.  Take it all in and dwell on it, and you’ll notice that the familiar Jeep cues are still intact for a new generation.  The iconic seven-slot grille is still there to give the family resemblance.  But look isn’t what makes a Jeep, it is what is inside and what it can do.  In that regard, the Renegade is more that capable of living up to a long honored tradition of being trail-rated.

The engine inside of the Renegade is a 1.4 liter Multi Air turbocharged engine with six-speed manual transmission.  A larger engine, a 2.4-liter, is also available.  The Renegade also has standard the Jeep Active Drive Low 4×4 system.

For true outdoors types, the Renegade has an available open-air, dual panel roof feature.  The “My Sky” system can open up a roof panel to let the air in.  The dual panel system allows for half-way retraction or a full removed roof for the front and rear passengers.  When the panels are removed, they can be stored in a height-adjustable rear cargo area.
