Is Jeep Being Spun-Off From FCA?

In the recent years, Jeep has been leading the sales for the Chrysler family.  It is one of the most popular brands in America and is starting to really catch on globally.  Jeep has been expanding into various different countries and is becoming a global phenom.  Does that mean it is time to start thinking of Jeep being its own brand?

The Detroit Free Press spoke with Fiat-Chrysler’s chief Sergio Marchionne and asked if he was considering making Jeep and Ram trucks their own brand?  The response was “Yes.”

Would spinning Jeep and Ram trucks off into their brand really change things?  Not really.  Marchionne did the same thing with Ferrari and it turned out fine for everyone.  Jeep and Ram trucks getting their own brand would make a splashy news headline, but ultimately wouldn’t impact either brands.  It may just be Marchionne wanting to keep the raising trend for both brands up by doing what he can to make sure Jeep and Ram are consistently news-worthy.  In the end, Jeep and Ram will continue to produce quality machines no matter what brand they are operating under.

Is the Jeep Yuntu a Preview of a New American Jeep?

What’s next for the Jeep brand?  Jalopnik has taken a look at what is the current trend that is happening in the SUV world and how will that effect Jeep?

The trend is three rows of seating.  It’s a current desire of most SUV drivers and it is something that Jeep is needing into their upcoming line-up.  That’s where the Yuntu Concept comes in.

The Yuntu is a concept vehicle designed for China.  It’s a plug-in hybrid and that’s really about what is known.  The Yuntu is meant only for the Chinese market, a market that Jeep has been making strides in for a while now and is really looking to expand.  Based on the few photos that have come out of the concept Jeep.  The design of the Yuntu looks to be a cross between the Compass and the Renegade.

So what does this have to do with three rows and Jeep?  Jalopnik sees the Yuntu as a preview of what could be planned later on for American markets.  If Jeep is able to fit the three rows into their Chinese market, it may be a preview of things to come.  Considering that it seems to be what American buyers want, Jeep could be testing the waters in China.

New Spy Photos of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Show Engine

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is highly anticipated.  Who wouldn’t be wanting to see what the result if when you combine the Hellcat engine and one of the most popular Jeeps.  For many, it’s just wanting to see if it can be done or if the engine would have to be reduced.  New spy photos have been released that look at the engine and it’s looking like keeping the 707 horsepower that the Hellcat engine famously provides will be feasible in a Grand Cherokee.

Autoblog breaks down the first look at the engine per these spy photos.  It’s the first time the engine has been seen and it certainly looks like it’s ready for power.

“As you can clearly see in the slightly noisy engine shot, that’s a supercharger parked on top of FCA’s 6.2-liter V8, just like in the Charger and Challenger Hell-twins.”

As for the rest of the Trackhawk that was spotted, the cosmetic difference between this one and the previous spy photos is minimal.  All-in-all, it is looking like Jeep fans will soon be talking about getting 707 horsepower out of their Jeep Grand Cherokee.  What an exciting time!
