Jeep Sets June Sales Record: More Popular Than Ever!

One of the most remarkable success stories in the auto industry of late is the rise of the Jeep.  Back when Chrysler was facing bankruptcy and its future was uncertain, nothing seemed further from thought than the idea that they’d be able to turn it around in the upcoming years.  Since recovering, the success story of Chrysler is a fascinating one, and one of the main reasons for that bounce-back is due to a new found fever for Jeeps.

CheatSheet.com examined this new wave of love for Jeep.  June was an amazing month for the Jeep brand.  It had the best June sales ever.  Many Jeep vehicles had record-setting months including the new Jeep Cherokee and the ever-popular Jeep Wrangler.  Even the newest member of the family, the Jeep Renegade, had an increase of 10% from May.

This is an incredible feat considering that Jeep, back when the company was going under, was struggling with American sales.  Now, it’s not just selling here in the States, but has caught on overseas.  Jeep recently invested in a new plant for production in India, showing that Jeep is one of the bigger international favorites.

The future seems even brighter.  The Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat experienced a higher than expected sales demand and Jeep is looking to capitalize on the popularity of the Hellcat name.  A Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Hellcat is expected next year.  This new SUV has potential to put some change into the market and have competitors scared.

What is it you’d like to see from Jeep in the coming years?  What do you think they need to do to keep the momentum going?

2015 Jeep Renegade: Is the Dislike Still Strong?

2015 Jeep Renegade

Where are the haters, asks Motoring Crunch.  It’s a good point to bring up.  When the Cherokee was first announced with its new look and design, the old vanguard of Jeep lovers balked at it.  They cried foul and saw the death of Jeep in something new and different.  That didn’t stop the Cherokee from being one of Jeep’s newest juggernauts and all-around thoroughly enjoyed Jeep.  But what about the Renegade?

It’s a small article, clearly having a chip on the shoulder of however wrote it, but it does bring a point with it.  The Renegade was seen as not going to have much impact when it hit, that it was unneeded.  So far the early word from critics who have driven it to the people buying is that it is an excellent new addition to the Jeep library.

Where did those critics go?  Did they get wowed over from the Renegade or simply fade away?  One thing is for certain, the Renegade is a powerful new vehicle and is going to be, as MCrunch puts it, “a real force in the highly competitive compact SUV market.”

Do you agree or disagree with on this about the Renegade?  Do you think it is a Jeep misfire or going to be a hit?  Let us know in the comments.

New Jeep Planned to Replace Patriot and Compass

Jeep Planning New Replacement for Patriot and Compass

Jeep has rolled the hits out of their factories and onto show floors.  The Cherokee has been a major success for the company and the Renegade is poised to make a major impact with the newer generation of Jeep buyers.  What is next?

Automobile Mag spoke with Jeep President and CEO Mike Manley to ask that very question.  The response is that something new may already be in the works for the next major Jeep.

“It’s literally halfway between the two,” Manley said referring to the Cherokee and Renegade.  “It’s well-positioned from a size point of view between the two vehicles.”

Jeep needs new vehicles to fill in slots that will soon be empty when they follow the five-year plan.  According to it, the Patriot and Compass will be put away for a while and something else will be taking their places.

As far as the styling goes, Manley was coy on what the look would be.  Would it follow the newer stylized look present in the Cherokee and Renegade or would it be a call back to the boxy look of traditional Jeeps?  Who knows, Manley is certainly not dropping any hints.  For those longing for a classical look, I think you may be waiting, but it could be the case that the half-way point between the Cherokee and Renegade is an older look.
