I Support Foundation Awards Jeep Wrangler to Lucky Customer

Two teenagers from Florida have decided to come together to aide our armed forces. They have started the I Support Foundation and it was created to raise funds for our troops. They are doing this by selling I Support wristbands and magnets. They give away 98% of the proceeds to give help to the US soldiers coming home from over-seas. The grand prize in this endeavor however, may get people to really start donating.

Redorbit.com is showing that they will be giving one lucky customer a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The person who gets the car will receive it on live TV in New York City on October 12, 2012. In the next 60 days, people around the country have the chance to win, all you have to do is be one of the first 12,000 visitors to purchase an ISF wristband.

There’s still going to be prizes after the Jeep is given away. There will be a new tally started afterwards that whenever someone purchases a wristband, they will be entered into the drawing. Every 12,500 products are sold, that’s when another prize will be awarded. Make sure to head over to their website for more information and to get a chance to win yourself a Jeep Wrangler for showing support to those fighting for our country.

The Cutest Little Jeep You Ever Did See

Usually, when people think of Jeep, they think of the military and tough ruggedness. After seeing this Jeep listed for sale on eBay and featured over on Jalopnik, we are still in shock. Who knew that a Jeep could be so darn cute?

This 1953 Custom Willys 8X8 Overland has the typical green camouflage color and a white strip and star on the side. The interior could use a bit of work, and while it is a great restoration job by fabricator Dick Cook, pulling parts from 3 Willys Jeeps, there are plenty of great restored cars available for sale on eBay. What caught our interest was its 8 wheels, turning it from a tough Jeep into a vehicle as cute as a bug.

In their video from the eBay posting, the seller showed off all eight wheels and boasted, “There will never be another one of these…We’ve built a centipede.” You can view the full video below:

Right now, bidding for the car is at $8,705.00, though the bidding reserve has not yet been met. If you want to check out the bidding or see more pictures of this adorable Jeep, head over to the eBay posting here.

Jeep Plant Readies for Liberty Replacement

The Jeep Liberty is getting itself a replacement. In order to get ready for the production of it, however, Chrysler is making sure that the plant responsible for this new Jeep vehicle is readying. That means the plant will be going idle this month.

Starting August 16th, the Toledo North factory will be halting their production to start shipping new models in the 2013 second quarter, according to the Detroit News. Chrysler is looking to invest around $1.7 billion to give the Jeep Liberty an upgrade and give the Toledo plant the assembly complex needed to deal with the added capacity.

The full investment will provide an expansion to the plant’s body shop with $500 million. This lets the plant also install a new metrology center that verifies the measurements of the vehicles and can improve the fit and finish of components. The plant will also need to start adding more workers. There are already 2,800 employees at the plant that assemble the Jeep Wrangler and that number is expected to increase with 1,100 new workers.

Zach Leroux, the plant manager, remarked on the challenge ahead for the plant and the new Jeep Liberty’s replacement, “We have new product and a whole new shift, so our task is tall. We have a tall challenge ahead of us.”

With the Dodge Dart on the way out in mass, it’s time for Chrysler and the rest of the brands to start really putting some hype into the next products. Other updates planned are for the Grand Cherokee and a new Ram heavy-duty truck in 2013.
