On Tuesday, Jeep released its first extensive look at the upcoming 2015 Jeep Renegade, including a rundown of all the SUV’s specs, features, and interior/exterior design. What were the top 5 reasons to keep an eye out for the Renegade? Read on to find out.

  1. First Small SUV from Jeep – The 2015 Jeep Renegade is the first small SUV from Jeep with the power and features of a larger SUV.
  2. 2 My Sky Open-Air Roof Systems – Passengers in the front and back seat can take in the fresh air and sunshine with two sunroofs.
  3. 16 Fuel-Efficient Powertrain Combinations – The Jeep Renegade offers 16 different powertrain combinations for different markets around the world, and it has the distinction of offering the world’s first nine-speed automatic transmission in the small SUV class.
  4. Best-in-Class 4×4 Trail Rated Capability – Buyers who opt for the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk Model will get 4×4 technology that is also available in the new Jeep Cherokee. This new 4×4 system has a disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit, giving the Renegade better fuel economy and a 20:1 crawl ratio.
  5. Uconnect Access, Uconnect Touchscreen Radios, and Full-Color Instrument Cluster – Chrysler’s Uconnect system will be available in the Jeep Renegade, giving drivers access to their favorite features like Pandora, roadside assistance, voice texting, Yelp, and remote door lock/unlock. Drivers can also make their vehicle a WiFi hotspot for an additional subscription fee.

2014 Jeep Cherokee Gets MPG Rating

There’s comes a time when you write about something, and look at something, that’s coming out and realize you’ve dissected all you can really get off other people’s assessment and photos. That’s when frustration sets in and you just tap your foot while waiting for the clock to click down. Anticipation has been replaced by wanting to have it already. Think of it like a kid anxiously waiting for that new train set they know is downstairs but they have to wait for Santa to put it under the tree so they can feign surprise in the morning. Yeah, just like that. Anyway, this tangent is supposed to set up just wanting the 2014 Jeep Cherokee to get here already.

What’s left to even hype up at this point? The look, and the changes that come with it, have been examined to an absurd level. Well, the next news trickling out of the Jeep PR machine is the mileage information.

The 2.4-liter standard engine that is available with the Jeep Cherokee is said to get 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The four-wheel drive version lessens the mpg to 21 in the city and 28 on the highway. In comparison, the higher performance engine, the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6, gets a city mpg of 19 and highway mpg of 28. The four-drive version gets 19 city mpg and 28 highway mpg.

In terms of stacking up to the competition, the Jeep Cherokee holds up. The Chevy Equinox with standard engine gets 22 in the city and 32 highway mpg.
