Is the Jeep Cherokee Chrysler’s Savior?

Jeep Cherokee

Chrysler is having a good year after posting their sales increase this last week. August was a positive gain for them with an increase in sales by 20%. This was a far greater increase than the analysts had predicted. It turns out to be the 53rd month in a row that Chrysler has had year-over-year sales gain. So why is Chrysler having such a good time in sales? It seems that their experiment with Jeep is paying off big time for them.

Motley Fool is showing that Chrysler’s sales are enjoying such a trend thanks to the popularity of the new Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee was a big bet when it was first announced as many of the Jeep die-hard were anxious about the major design changes. After it finally came out though and the critics got behind the wheel, it turned out to be one smart decision on Jeep’s part. The Cherokee has been popular with new buyers and critics alike since its release.

The Jeep Cherokee is a major seller in it segment; the midsize SUV segment. The Cherokee didn’t get off to a good start, seeing a major delay that kept it off the market till last October. This kept Chrysler from having a vehicle in the segment as the Cherokee took over for the Jeep Liberty.

Delay or not, the Cherokee has been quick to over-do the Liberty. By the end of 2014, the Cherokee’s sales may very well be better than the best year of the Liberty.

Jeep Cherokee has turned out to be the best decision Jeep has made.

Jeep Wrangler Faces Challenge of New Fuel Regulations

5-2013-wrangler-rubicon-10th-anniversary-anvil

There is heavy speculation as to how the next Jeep Wrangler is going to be able to handle the stricter regulations from the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) rules.  SUVs are notorious for their fuel consumption.  The Motor Report has a theory on just how the new Jeep Wrangler will be able to deal with the regulations while still offering the quality drivers expect.

Lightweight materials will be playing a major part of how.  The Motor Report points out that Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Fiat Chrysler, has been hinting at using an aluminum architecture.  The use of this material would decrease the weight on the new Wrangler.

A new transmission could help a lot in fuel saving as well.  The Grand Cherokee was recently given a eight-speed automatic transmission which could be used in a future Wrangler model.

Another possible change could come from the engine, a smaller engine.  This may put fear in the hearts and minds of the loyal Jeep fans, but don’t lose hope.  Mike Manley, the CEO of Jeep, said “One thing that we will not do is dilute what Wrangler stands for.  I killed the two-wheel-drive Wrangler when I took over the brand, and I’m not bringing the two-wheel-drive Wrangler back.”

2015 Jeep Renegade Brings Jeep into Small SUV Market

LEAD-Jeep-Renegade

The all-new Jeep Renegade is here to fill a void that Jeep has been absent from, the small sport-utility vehicle segment. One key aspect that Jeep makes sure to strive for whenever undertaking any new vehicle, be it a redesign of an older design or a revamp of a classic, Jeep continues to ensure that the Jeep badge means quality. Big or small, Jeeps are made to endure and offer the best-in-class off-road driving. The Renegade will be no exception.

The new Jeep Renegade will be borrowing some tech from its older brother in order to stay true to the Jeep name. The Jeep Cherokee has new 4×4 tech that will be used in the Renegade. The two systems are advanced and intelligent 4×4. Each is engineered to deliver the best-in-class for off-road capability.

Another feature that the Renegade features to give it an edge in the segment is a segment first in its disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit. This helps the Renegade achieve better fuel economy and the 4×4 system engages when it is needed.

All the power for the 2015 Jeep Renegade comes from the 1.4-liter Multiair four-cylinder turbo engine. The limited models come with a more powerful 2.4-liter Multiair four-cylinder engine.

None of that power and capability takes away from the comfort of riding in the Renegade. High-quality and state-of-the-art technology was used in making sure that the driver and riders were in heaven no matter of the condition of the road taken. The designers have labeled the interior “Tek-Tonic” for its “intersections of soft and tactile forms with rugged and functional details.”

The new Jeep Renegade is helping Jeep enter a market they’ve been missing from. Hopefully, like the new Jeep Cherokee, fans of Jeep will embrace this new entry from a company that ensures quality with each release.
