Chrysler Hires 1,000 New Employees for Jeep Wrangler, Cherokee Demand

Jeep Cherokee

Demand for the Jeep Wrangler and new Jeep Cherokee has been pushing employees at the Jeep plant in Toledo to work longer weeks, and rather than burn out their good full-time employees, Jeep has decided to hire as many as 1,000 new part-time employees at the plant.

This year, Chrysler has already hired 380 temporary part-time employees, but 50 of those employees have been upgraded to full-time status. To keep up with the production needs, however, the Toledo branch needs to bring on even more part-time help. Once these part-time employees are hired, many of the full-time employees who have been working 60-hour weeks will be able to work less, take more time off, and avoid burn-out.

Part-time hires at the Toledo plant will get up to 30 hours a week and will be paid $15.78 per hour plus some benefits including health insurance.

Toledo plant manager Chuck Padden praised his employees’ collective work ethic, saying, “Our people have been working a tremendous amount of hours. To get them more time off is important to us, to make sure they’re refreshed, and can work safely.”

Jeep Cherokee Leads Strong December Sales

December was a strong month for Chrysler’s sales. Ever since the bailout, every month has been a story of how the auto company has rebounded from oblivion and into solid sales again. This last December marks the 45th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains for Chrysler. The month’s gains were attributed by the company to two new popular vehicles.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee was seen as one of reasons why Chrysler sales grew 6 percent from December in 2012. Since the Cherokee went on sale in October, it has been a hit with drivers. It has since outsold the popular Jeep Wrangler in December. The sales Jeep posted with help from the Cherokee was a 34 percent gain over last year’s December. That is the best December sales ever for Jeep.

Jeep Shows Cherokee Trail Carver at SEMA 2013

SEMA is always one of the biggest times of the year for automakers, Jeep chief among them. They take great pride in displaying the coolest new additions to their family. This year’s show was no exception.

While the Wrangler was the Jeep being honored by the show, it was the Cherokee that got the Mopar boost. This new custom Jeep is called the Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver.

It’s impossible to bring up the new Jeep Cherokee and not also have to bring up controversy. Much has already been said in defense and against the new look that the Cherokee brings with it. One thing is for certain, though, and that is Jeeps determination to show their fans, both old and new, that a new look doesn’t take away from the same power and reliability that made Jeep as popular as it is today. That’s the mission the Cherokee Trail Carver sets out to do, to remind people of the versatility that comes with owning a Jeep.

The Cherokee Trail Carver comes with a powerful 3.2-liter V6 engine to help it conquer any terrain. This is match by the out look as the Trail Carver is covered in an Auburn Pearl paint job to make it look right at home in the outdoors.

Mopar has done much to infuse their charm and power into the Cherokee Trail Carver.
