2017 Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee Top Cars.com 2017 American-Made Index

On our main blog over at Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge, the Jeep Wrangler and the Cherokee placed first and second on the overall rankings of vehicles on the Cars.com

Cars.com has put out their annual American-Made Index for 2017 and the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Cherokee both placed high on the list among all the vehicles.  The Cherokee ranked second and the Wrangler is the top spot on the list.

“As a descendant of the military Jeep that helped the Allies win World War II, the Jeep Wrangler already has strong American credentials,” said Joe Wiesenfelder, the Cars.com executive editor.  “In Cars.com’s 2017 American Made Index, the Wrangler’s American roots prove as deep as its image.  The SUV has been long been a Cars.com favorite for off-roaders and sun-lovers.”

The Cars.com American-Made Index is put together based on five key criteria.  This includes assembly locations, domestic parts content, country of origin for the engine and the transmission, and the US factory employment.  Using that info, Cars.com put together that the Wrangler 2-door is 74 percent American Made and the 4-door is 76 percent American Made.  The Wrangler is currently being made in Toledo, Ohio.

“We are delighted to celebrate America’s most patriotic day with the news that Cars.com’s American-Made Index has ranked Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee as the two overall most-American vehicles for 2017,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand FCA Global.  “On this Fourth of July holiday we salute the dedicated employees who build Wrangler and Cherokee, as well as the loyal Jeep owners who drive them.”

Could The Jeep Wrangler Pickup Look Like This?

One of the most anticipated vehicles is the Jeep Wrangler pickup.  It is one of the most demanded vehicles from Jeep drivers and many are waiting for the reveal.  Until then, it is time to speculate.  On the JL Wrangler Forums, fans have put together their vision for how the Wrangler Pickup will look.

The really well made artist rendering is of a two door Jeep Wrangler Pickup.  It looks like the artist based the design on a Rubicon.  The design comes from what is currently known about the Wrangler Pickup’s look.  It will be a boxy Jeep look, straying away from the Cherokee’s, Renegade’s, and other newer Jeeps updated looks.  This will be a big plus for Wrangler fans as their preference for Jeep looks is the classic boxy look the Wrangler still holds to.

The other facts known about the Wrangler Pickup is that it will have the Jeep’s seven-slot grille and the headlamps will be round.  Again, those hints point at a traditional Wrangler look.  The artist seems to agree as the concept art, while looking fancy, looks like the back of a Wrangler was replaced with a pickup bed.

New Jeep Pickup Spotted?

The Jeep pickup has been something that has been rumored for some time and little hints here and there that something was in the works.  As of yet, besides just some concept Jeep vehicles, nothing has been produced to show what the Jeep pickup that is supposed to be coming will look like.  That is until AutoToday seemingly spotted a Jeep Wrangler pickup concept in the wild.

The spy pictures look pretty amazing.  I don’t believe that many didn’t think the Wrangler pickup would look like a Jeep melded with a truck back.  That being said, actually seeing one on the road is really cool to see.  There is definitely a demand for this fusion of truck and Jeep and the Wrangler pickup may just be the thing to cater to that market.

As for the name, there is no news on that front.  The rumor is that Jeep will be reviving a nostalgic name to attach to the Wrangler pickup.  Here is hoping that we’ll be seeing and hearing more news soon about the Jeep Wrangler Pickup.
