Details and Pricing Released for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

2014-Jeep-Cherokee-Trailhawk-off-roadJeep has finally announced the pricing for the upcoming and all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee.  Along with that pricing range comes with it the three different variants of the Cherokee that will be out this year.

The first up is the base model, the Cherokee Sport.  The rundown of its features are that it will be equipped with a Fiat-sourced 2.4L Tigershark engine and 17-inch steel wheels.  As is the case with most Chrysler products, the Cherokee will have the Uconnect system.

The next step up is the Cherokee Latitude.  On the outside, it shares many similarities with the Sport.  The biggest perk of going up a tier, however, is the luxurious interior.  Leather-bound steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, and inseat storage in the front passenger seat; these are just a few of the interior features to make the Latitude such a premium purchase.  The engine is a 3.2L Pentastar V6.  Pricing for the Latitude starts at $24,495.

Next in line is the Cherokee Limited.  It comes with automatic headlights and 18-inch polished aluminum wheels on the outside.  On the inside, it cranks up the luxury.  That means heated leather seats and steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, and the Uconnect system with an 8.4 inch touchscreen.  All this comes priced starting at $27,995.

The last, and most incredible value, is for the Cherokee Trailhawk.  This is the one being aimed right at the drivers looking to find their fun on the road less traveled.  That’s why it comes with such features like a red tow hook and a underbody skid plate.  The ride height has been increased as well as the off-road suspension.  The engine has the Jeep patented Selec-Terrain as well as Active Drive 4×4 drivetrain.  The Trailhawk has some extra visual flair to the already bold new look of the new Jeep.  The top of the pack will run about $29,495.

70 Year Old Jeep Makes Journey Back Home

willys-jeepHere’s an incredible story about legacy and military service:

The Jeep is coming back to the States today.  Not just any mere Jeep, but a military WW2 Willy, the precursor of the Jeep.  And this one has been in service for 70 years.

This specific Jeep began its life on June 3rd, 1943 where it was deployed to Sicily to help with the war efforts shortly after coming out of the factory.  When the war ended, the Jeep stayed overseas and was moved around various Italian military members.

It left active-duty at some point and became privately owned.  The current owner, an Italian journalist Vittorio Argento, purchased it in 1984.  Now, he’s returning it to its birthplace in Toledo, Ohio, the very factory where it was first made.

It’s a remarkable story to see.  I can’t even imagine the stories this little beast of burden could tell if it could talk.  Even more impressive seeing how well it’s held up over the decades.  That’s a real testament to the quality of manufacturing that went, and still goes into, producing the Jeep.

2014 Jeep Cherokee vs Grand Cherokee

2014-jeep-cherokee-2-optThe auto world, like many things, is filled with comparisons. How does this car stack up to that car? It’s the way things are. The comparison that the Sacramento Bee wanted to see was just how the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee stacked up to the king of the brand, the Grand Cherokee.

First up is the engine. The Cherokee will have the choice of a V6 or a 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine. The four-cylinder is capable of 31 MPG on the highway and can go 490 miles in a single fill-up. The V6 on the other hand gets 271 horsepower.

The Grand Cherokee with its engine gets 290 horsepower but lacks the fuel mileage. The only way for it to get into the 30s range is to have the EcoDiesel V6 engine.

One thing to note that the Cherokee has over the Grand Cherokee is that it will have new nine-speed transmission. The Grand Cherokee will still only have eight-speed transmission.

The Jeep Cherokee seems poised to offer a new form of luxury and comfort that doesn’t take away from the quality of the Jeep’s typical capability. While the new design might have taken time for fans to appreciate, they’ve seemingly gotten on board for the potential of something new and ground-breaking.
