Jeep Cherokee Beats Sales Expectations

Jeep Cherokee

The Jeep Cherokee was something of an underdog when you think about it.  When the new design was first revealed for it, the response was very mean.  Change is something that does not come without criticism and changing something as time-old and iconic as the Jeep look will get people angry.  However, innovation has to come from somewhere.  The question always was if the gambit would pay off for Jeep with the Cherokee and looking at the sales so far, it seems like Jeep has certainly come out the winner.

The Toledo Blade has the sales figures for the Cherokee so far.  In the first few months of the year, Jeep has sold 67,095 Cherokees.  In comparison to the Jeep Liberty, the vehicle the Cherokee replaced, that’s the Liberty’s full year of sales in 2011.  In short, that’s way better than what was expected.

The Cherokee still has a ways to go before it wins everyone over but it seems to be really appreciated by new buyers.  Those who are approaching the Cherokee with an open mind tend to walk away impressed.  That’s not to say it hasn’t converted some of the more skeptical people.  The article quotes one such person who is still unsure on the design but can still love the capability.

2014 Jeep Cherokee: It’s What’s Inside That Counts!

2014 Jeep Cherokee TrailhawkThe new look for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been a hot topic of late.  In order to deal with the critics who have seemed timid about the new direction, Jeep has been putting an emphasis on what’s beneath the new look.  A real Jeep isn’t defined by its exterior, but by what it can do.  A jeep is made for someone looking for an aggressive drive, someone who wants to make his own road.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee may be sporting a new and distinct look that separates it from its prior pedigree, but it has heart where it matters.  Jeep wants to assure fans that just because the style has evolved that the capability hasn’t been left behind.  In fact, the 2014 Cherokee will be the first ever mid-sized SUV to feature rear-axle disconnect.  This helps to reduce energy loss, leading to a better fuel efficiency, by not using 4×4 when it’s unnecessary.

The new Cherokee is coming out to replace the aging Liberty and that means it’d better make sure to bring an improvement over its predecessor.  The 2014 Cherokee has much more power in the engine with a new nine-speed transmission.  There are two variations of engines available to choose from. First is the 2.4-liter Tigershark with 184 horsepower and gets 31 mpg on the highway.  Second choice is the 2.3-liter Pentastar V-6 engine.  It’s built with the intention to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness in mind and is capable of 271 horsepower.

2014 Jeep Cherokee LimitedWith all the fuss that’s been said about the outside, no one has really mentioned the inside.  The 2014 Cherokee will come loaded with over 70 available safety and security features such as the inclusion of 10 standard airbags.  The dashboard has two ways of viewing the vehicle’s information.  One is a 3.5 inch greyscale thin-film transistor LED.  The other is the 7-inch full color reconfiguarble instrument cluster.  Chrysler’s popular Uconnect system will be included and will have either the standard 5-inch touchscreen or the up-gradable 7-inch screen.

When the 2014 Cherokee is released in the third quarter of this year, it will be available in four models:

  • Jeep Cherokee Sport
  • Jeep Cherokee Latitude
  • Jeep Cherokee Limited
  • Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

2014 Jeep Cherokee is Official!

2014 Jeep Cherokee - 01 The folks over at Jalopnik are bragging at the moment for breaking the news on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee.  Earlier today, they put out some behind the scenes leaks of the upcoming new version of the Jeep.  Since then, Jeep has confirmed that they indeed did get a scoop.

The original big unveiling date was scheduled, or at least being hinted at, for the upcoming New York Auto Show.  Jalopnik pushed up that official release date and forced their hand with releasing the first official photos.  Everyone else is jumping on the band wagon to give their two cents at the new design.

2014 Jeep Cherokee - 02The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has a new vision for the future.  This new exterior will certainly divide fans.  Jalopnik is a fan of it.  Autoblog thinks it’s going to be one of the most polarizing designs in 2014.  It’s certainly a departure with a crimped-back seven-slot grille.  The writer goes as far as to say it’s “got the makings of a design revolution.”
