Motor Trend Takes the Jeep Wrangler on the Rubicon Trail

Untitled

Jeeps were built for the intention of conquering the terrain.  The brand started life with the intent to ensure that no field of battle was too dangerous to traverse.  Now, that has extended into civilian life as Jeeps are synonymous with tackling the great outdoors.  Anyone who gets a Jeep is someone who at some point behind the wheel will daydream themselves into a scenario involving some rocky terrain that only they can drive over.

Jonny Lieberman at Motor Trend got the chance to live out the fantasy of taking a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon out to the Rubicon Trail.  The Trail is notoriously difficult for any 4×4 to handle and Jeeps have been driving it since the 50’s to prove their prowess with difficult terrains.  Lieberman put his full experience up on YouTube for viewers to see and it’s a wonderful sight indeed:

It’s stunning to see the capability of a Jeep Wrangler that the average driver never gets to see while stuck in New York traffic.

Jeep Shows Off 2014 Cherokee’s Off-Road Capabilities in New Video

UntitledThe 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been held under a fine microscope even with barely any information released.  All it took was a few sneak peeks and official pictures to get the entire auto world talking.  Some loved the new look and others scoffed.  In response, Jeep is making sure that people remember that the real beauty of their vehicles is not just the exterior, but it’s what’s underneath.

A new video put out by Jeep follows the new Cherokee as it tackles a rocky playground.  The shot is POV and clearly shows that the Cherokee, while boasting a more car-like look, is not unable to take on rough terrain.  The vehicle goes up a couple of steep inclines covered in both solid rock and loose sand.

At the beginning of the video, Jeep teases that the 2014 Cherokee will be offering the best-in-class capability.  There’s no doubt after seeing it briefly in action that all-wheel drive will be a part of the package.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee will get its full reveal at the 2013 New York Auto Show happening very soon.  Many Jeep enthusiasts are looking forward to seeing just what this giant leap has in store.

Jeep Announces New SUV Model

libertyAs part of a bigger expansion plan, Jeep has announced that it will be producing a smaller SUV model at its plant in Melfi, Italy.

This new SUV is not the previously announced replacement for the Jeep Compass and Patriot but rather a whole new model. Even though the new, smaller SUV will be built in Italy, Jeep plants in the United States have no need to fear. The Compass/Patriot replacement will be built in the United States, and Chrysler currently plans on adding over 1,100 workers to the Toledo plant next year.

Chrysler’s majority owner Fiat expects that production of this smaller SUV and another new Fiat model at the Melfi plant will help the local economy as well as increase auto sales in Europe. Also, the Melfi plant has been underutilized of late, and it makes sense to put it to good use.
