2014 Jeep Cherokee vs Grand Cherokee

The auto world, like many things, is filled with comparisons. How does this car stack up to that car? It’s the way things are. The comparison that the Sacramento Bee wanted to see was just how the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee stacked up to the king of the brand, the Grand Cherokee.

First up is the engine. The Cherokee will have the choice of a V6 or a 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine. The four-cylinder is capable of 31 MPG on the highway and can go 490 miles in a single fill-up. The V6 on the other hand gets 271 horsepower.

The Grand Cherokee with its engine gets 290 horsepower but lacks the fuel mileage. The only way for it to get into the 30s range is to have the EcoDiesel V6 engine.

One thing to note that the Cherokee has over the Grand Cherokee is that it will have new nine-speed transmission. The Grand Cherokee will still only have eight-speed transmission.

The Jeep Cherokee seems poised to offer a new form of luxury and comfort that doesn’t take away from the quality of the Jeep’s typical capability. While the new design might have taken time for fans to appreciate, they’ve seemingly gotten on board for the potential of something new and ground-breaking.

2014 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition Honors The Troops

Ahh Memorial Day, the time to start getting ready for summer. If this past week has been any indication, it’s going to be a hot one in New York for the next few months.

The whole weekend, as people kick back in the pool and poke at their meat on the barbecue, it’s a time to reflect on those that passed to give us the opportunity to enjoy such peace and relaxation.

The military lineage runs deep in Jeep. It’s how the line came into being. No other vehicle can really trace its beginnings to being so ingrained in military use.

Jeep is celebrating this history by having a special edition added to their line-up in honor of our troops, the 2014 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition. It wears its support for the troops proudly.

The outside is painted in a either red, white or blue. And it comes with a giant star printed right on top of the hood. That same star logo is also on the front seats. Oscar Mike is printed on the front door (it’s military speak for “On the move”). Other features include 6-speed transmission and full 4×4 capacity.

That’s not the only way the Freedom Edition of the Patriot is giving back. For every one of them sold, Jeep will in turn donate $250 to a military charity.

Jeep has always supported the troops one way or another for the past 70 years. It’s never lost sight of that connection and this memorial day continues to honor those that have served.

Jeep Grand Cherokee is the “Official Winter Vehicle of New England”

Winning one accolade is reason enough to be excited. When you win three in one night, it’s time to throw a party!

Jeep is the proud winner of three more trophies to line-up on their ever-growing case. The shiny new awards come from the New England Motor Press Association’s (NEMPA) annual industry dinner. Mike Manley, the President and CEO of Jeep Brand, was on-hand to accept the awards, two of which were for the vehicles and one was for him.

Manley was given the 2013 Executive award due to the Jeep brand’s outstanding product line and their commitment to New England. The NEMPA President Keith Griffin presented it to him.

“During Mike Manley’s tenure, Jeep has enjoyed a renaissance applauded by both consumers- with ever-increasing sales- and by automotive writers, who have heaped awards upon the Grand Cherokee,” Griffin praised.

As he noted, the Grand Cherokee was the reason Jeep earned so much praise. For the third year in a row, the Grand Cherokee earned “Official Winter Vehicle of New England.” It won thanks to its combination of being an all-weather beast on and off the road while still offering comfort and luxury at value prices.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee was the winner of the last award. It won the “Previously Owned Vehicle of the Year” from Wheels TV.

The Jeep, and the Grand Cherokee in particular, has always been a favorite of being handed awards. What matters most is that people see the reason why so much acclaim is given to the brand. Jeep is a company that backs up its trophies by maintaining a quality in their products few others can match.
